Illinois High School District Referendum Success

4 districts in our immediate vicinity voted on large referendums/school tax increases on 11/6/18. Average cost per resident on a $500K home value is as follows:


  • Elmhurst: $950/yr - APPROVED $168.5M referendum ($800 foregone tax decrease + $150 tax increase)

  • Glen Ellyn: $660/yr - APPROVED school tax increase

  • Park Ridge: $455/yr - APPROVED $240M referendum 

  • Hinsdale D86: $283/yr - $139M referendum, awaiting approval on 4/2/19


In addition, the following 23 Chicagoland high schools have already completed or have approved funds for significant capital improvement to renew/replace their aging schools:

  • Stevenson HS (Lincolnshire)

  • Vernon Hills HS*

  • William Fremd HS (Palatine)*

  • York High School (Elmhurst)


* Denotes schools that replaced their pools in 2006 or later. Schools without asterisks replaced their original pools prior to 2006, with the exception of New Trier who rehabbed in 1988, only to then experience leaks and injuries due to shallow starting block area.
